What decorative concrete is and when it fits
Decorative concrete in White Plains is regular concrete finished to look like more. The most common kind is stamped concrete, where we press a pattern into the fresh pour so it reads like stone or brick. It works on a patio, a front walk or a driveway.
The price mostly follows the pattern, how many colors, borders or inlays you want, the size, and whether the old slab can stay or has to come out. The schedule turns on the weather and the season, because fresh concrete needs its curing time, the wait while it hardens enough to use. I'll give you your own number in writing after I measure.
Pattern pressed in
The texture is stamped into the fresh pour, so it's part of the slab itself.
Color to match
Color goes into the concrete to pick up the brick, siding or stone around your house.
Joints worked in
Control joints, shallow cuts that tell cracks where to go, get laid out along the pattern.
Sealer on top
A sealer coat protects the color and makes the surface easier to keep clean.

Owner-run since 2023
I look at every job and write the estimate myself, then a small crew I trust does the work with me usually on site for the pour.
Base first, pattern second
The base is the first thing people want to trim, but a fancy top on soft ground usually cracks, so we dig out and pack it first.

How much does a stamped concrete patio cost in Westchester?
A stamped concrete patio in Westchester County usually costs about $10 to $20 per square foot, and reinforced concrete, with steel rebar inside to hold cracks tight, costs more per foot than un-reinforced. That's the going rate around here, not our price, and yours comes in the written estimate after I measure.
Can my cracked concrete slab be resurfaced instead of replaced?
It can, if the damage is on the surface. A thin cement-based overlay can cover minor cracking, stains, scaling or light spalling, but cracks wider than about 1/8 inch, real sinking or wear down to the stone in the mix call for replacement. If your slab is rough underneath, I'll tell you a new top won't save it.
Should I choose a simple or fancy stamped concrete pattern?
Simple, if you'd rather not fuss over it. A basic stamp with one pattern and one color costs less and is easier to keep up, while extra colors, borders and custom inlays can lift curb appeal and resale value but need frequent maintenance. Mid-range styles sit in between, and we'll help you pick the one you'll actually take care of.
Can stamped concrete be poured in late fall or winter?
Yes, but it needs protecting and you'll wait longer to use it. A Pennsylvania concrete trade group says concrete placed in late fall or winter has to be kept above freezing until it reaches its design strength, usually at 28 days, and stays out of use until it's thoroughly cured.
How often does stamped concrete need to be resealed?
One home-service guide says every two to three years, to protect the surface from humidity and freeze-thaw cycles. Plan the first winter too, because a Pennsylvania concrete trade group advises keeping deicers off concrete less than a year old, so you'll want another way to handle snow and ice.
Who do I call about driveway work near the curb in White Plains?
The city's DPW Code Enforcement Office issues curb and driveway permits by the street, and it asks you to call 914-422-1208 before starting any project, since a stormwater permit may apply when soil gets disturbed. The city also asks for a call to 811 before any digging. We handle the permit paperwork when a job calls for it.
What does Westchester require in a home improvement contract?
It has to be in writing, signed by everyone, with start and completion dates, and change orders follow the same rule. It also has to say you can cancel before midnight of the third business day after signing, so read it through and ask me about any line that isn't clear.
